John McKenna
Case founded Case Lighting Resources in 1973, and has since
become established as one of the nation's foremost lighting
designers and consultants. Today his creative talent and technical
expertise are sought out by prestigious businesses and prominent
individuals for both commercial and residential projects throughout
the world.
Working
closely with architects, interior designers, and landscape
architects, Case utilizes controlled illumination to create
dramatic effects in interior and exterior environments, and
to enhance colors, forms, and textures. He is best known for
his work with optical projectors, which confine the light
source to the contours of a lighted object and make it appear
as though it is floating in air.
Augmenting
the design and installation services of Case Lighting Resources,
Case additionally is president and founder of Case Lighting
Products, a manufacturer of wholesale lighting fixtures, switching
systems, and accessories; and the Case Collection, an importer
of artifacts, clothing, and specialty gift items.
Case
has played an active role in the community through his ongoing
support of the cultural arts. He is past president of COMBO,
founder of Young Friends of the San Diego Symphony, and a
former member of the board of directors for the San Diego
Symphony and the La Jolla Playhouse. He also served as vice
president and member of the board of directors for the La
Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, and is a former member of
the board of directors for the San Diego Chamber of Commerce.
John Case
holds a bachelor of arts degree in business from San Diego
State University, where he served as a cheerleader and president
of his class. He was awarded Outstanding Young Citizen of
San Diego in 1968, and was one of five Outstanding Young Citizens
of California in 1969-70.
